Cafe & Catering
Legend has it that King Louis VX of France returned late one night to his hunting lodge and all that was on hand was onions, butter and champagne. He mixed them together, cooked it, and had the first French Onion Soup. Costeaux's is made with dry sherry instead but is highly acclaimed as one of our signature dishes. Try it!
Something for everyone with a daily option of killer French Onion Soup garnished with our own crunchy garlic rosemary Crostini and topped with freshly grated, paper thin, Jarlsburg cheese. We have starters, soups, salads and sandwiches galore. Costeaux Café is the ideal place to meet family and friends, whatever the time of day. Or, catch up with a gal pal over tea and pastries. Enjoy a bottle of sauvignon blanc or zinfandel, or kick back with a Racer 5 or Scrimshaw beer, perhaps with a Charcuterie Board or Costeaux Fromage Board, on our lovely patio as you check your email or the latest reports on our free Wi-Fi.
Worthy of consideration is the Costeaux French Dip of thinly sliced house roasted rib eye with caramelized onions and Roquefort aioli on our classic sourdough roll, the Costeaux Salad of baby greens, caramelized walnuts, grapes, apples and Roquefort with Dijon vinaigrette, or our beloved Costeaux Quiche. Our Panino grilled chicken or Portobello mushroom with roasted red bell pepper, red onion, baby arugula, and Gruyère cheese with a lemon-rosemary aioli on our sensational Focaccia bread is a definite winner. Our Multigrain Turkey Sandwich is a classic combination of turkey breast, French brie, cranberry and baby greens with an avocado aioli served with our Best of Show Multigrain bread. One of the best-kept local secrets is our Parisian Sandwich, a sweet baguette filled with ham and cheese. If you feel like a grab and go quick meal on the road or at the office, pick up some brie, paté or other savory items to complement our phenomenal breads - always a great choice, especially for take-along.
Ask about our daily chef luncheon specials and house made soups. See our starters, soups, sandwiches and salads menu. All sandwiches are made on our world-class artisan and specialty bread...of course! Sides include Kettle chips, seasonal fruit salad, baby greens salad, country potatoes, French country mustard potato or pasta salad.
Save room after lunch - or come in specifically - for our absolutely legendary desserts which you can dream about as you look over the Desserts and Confections section. We are said to have the largest dessert cart in Sonoma County and there are indeed many temptations. Everyone’s mouth-watering long time favorites - such as chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies, éclairs, cupcakes, lemon curd and pecan tartlets, and chocolate candies are a given. We also offer potentially new favorites for you to discover, such as caramel macadamia nut tart, triple chocolate mousse, Costeaux cheesecake on a stick, French apple tart, chocolate decadence, Princess and St. Honoré cakes …and many more temptations!
"OK, first off, I've been coming to this place for a long time. It's off the chain, especially with the remodel. Very good place to meet friends or socialize. I recommend the French Dip, a glass of Sport Tea (iced tea with a hint of ginseng), a coffee, and a Princess Cake slice to finish. You won't be disappointed. Bomb dig."
